How to be a good football player

In this blog i will be sharing some training tips techniques to increase your skill and become a good football player.

The first thing you need to become a good football player is to have a sufficient time and place for training.Always start your training with 10-20 minutes of jogging on the ground , then after you finish running stretch your body for 10 minutes you can check my other post on different stretching techniques.

The most important part in football is to have sufficient stamina.You should have atleast 45-50 minutes running or jogging power.So to increase your stamina power you have to train a lot.Increase your running time day by day before you start playing or getting ready for football.

The next thing is passing,shooting,controlling and dribbling skill.

Most player has weak point on controlling and other has on passing or dribbling. So find out your weakness first.You should know which point is weak upon you.If you have weakness on dribbling then focus on dribbling.

There are many techniques to make your weakness decrease in my other post check out.

To increase your shooting technique you should have a powerful leg muscles.You will find tips to increase your shooting power in my next blog.

Dont start playing football in the field without training.First practice passing,shooting,dribbling e.t.c give every sectors 20-30 minutes.then after you finish your each practice.you play football in a formation. Dont  play selfish cause it will later make your formation decrease.so first you need to have a good pass and controlling skills.

Friday giggs celebrated his 40 th birthday. He is still very important for manchester united.He entered as a substitute in the game between manchester united and cardiff.In the match between manchester united and leverkusen (5-0) he was the hero from the starting of the game .Due to this manchester united has put its name in the top 16.Although giggs is 40 years old he is still seen young at the football field.By watching giggs play one of the player from leverkusen asked how can a 40 year old can play this good?

Many player asks giggs age. Although he is preety old he plays excellent game as a good player.

Giggs said he has lots of contibution to do for his club(man utd). He even said that although he is he never get tired of his football dream and wants to play more for his club.

The attacking 4-3-3 formation is used by many clubs in world soccer.



Three strikers,three defensive mid fielders,and four defender.

For defensive Game Plan:The 4-5-1 formation.

This formation is widely used in many clubs for defensive game.



1 striker,5 defending mid,4 last defender.

Goalkeeper or goalie is a major position of football where the person(goalkeeper) has to save the ball from entering the line at the post.Within the 18 yard box goalkeepers are able to use their hands, making them  the only players on the field able to handle the ball.Goalkeeper performs goalkicks and also commands the defender in the game.

  • Dont give up: The first part for a goalkeeper is not to give up in any situation.
  • Ball control: How many times you have seen ball gone through keeper's leg and open arm? Remember keep your body behind your hands as well when making saves it will help you alot.
  • You should know when to move and when to make a dive.As player make confusion using different skills they make their leg kick the ball ...but they dont actually kick .This will make keeper a false dive.
  • Once if you go for the ball dont come back untill you get the ball.If you move for the ball anyhow you should get the ball .Many keepers do false move and they come back and get a sure goalshot.
  • When to move : Keeper should know when and from where the ball is coming from.They should know the distance, height, speed and move accordingly. Dont touch the sure out ball .
The keeper should know at least these two basic calls:

"Keeper!": this means the goalkeeper is about to take control of the ball, defenders should get out of the way.

"Away!": this means the opposite - the goalkeeper is not going after the ball and the defense should pursue it. It is usually used for crosses or corners.

How to train yourself for football (become a good footbal player)


There are many and lots of ways to increase your skill,stamina and power to become a good football player. The most important in football is the stamina.As a game is of 90 minutes u need to have at least 45 minutes of running or jogging capacity.The other things comes after stamina like skill,power,passing e.t.c

For this here are some ways(drills) to train yourself to become a good player.

  • The Shuttle Run

This is one of the way to get your stamina or increase your running power.For this you need to start with cone 1 go to cone no.2 then again comeback to cone no.1 go to cone no.3 then come back to cone no.1 and so on....First do this drill with 4 to 5 cones then gradually increase your cones each day.


  • Vertical Power Jumps

     Vertical Jump











This is a very easy drill that increases your muscles strength.You need to jump from the ground and need to touch your chest with your thigh.Do this 10 times after every drill.

  • Ladder Drill
Ladder Drill

The ladder drill encourages speed, agility, coordination and leg muscle strength.You can use anything to make a imaginary ladder laid on the ground .Begin by standing at the bottom of the ladder with your feet shoulder width apart. Step into the first square with your left foot first, then immediately with your right foot. Step on the outside of the second square with your left foot first, then your right foot on the other side of the square. Step back inside of the second square with one foot at a time, then back to the outside on the fourth square. Continue this pattern until you reach the top of the ladder, then run in a straight line back to starting position.
 Do this drill 5 times after each drill.

  • Box Jump  


Box jumps will help you to promote power and muscle building as the vertical power jumps do, but with a little variation.There are many variation of box jump.This one will help you alot and its easy to do.First start by standing in one of the box then jump to the edge of the box and repeat it to the other box.Remember on landing your body should be in 90 degree position. 

The drill that i used to do are:

Donkey Drill( i say): In this drill you need to carry a person in your shoulder.Then start from the standing position you need to lean down ( like you are sitting in an imaginary chair).then again stand up.Continue this process 10 times a day.

Frog jump: Like a frog with your leg on the ground sit down but dont touch your butt on the ground . Jump to the Highest point you can landing on sitting position on your leg.

There are many other drills apart from these drills.But mainly i focus in these drills.
